I learn about this interesting topic during my Almaghrib class today and I find out that it's worth to share with you especially the Muslims.
If people ask Muslims or maybe you yourself as a Muslim wonder why Muslims throughout the world angered and rebelled when Denmark published the Prophet Muhammad's caricature? The answer goes like this:
It shows that people don't respect other religions in general and Islam in specific. It is an insult for Muslims because believe in prophets is one of the six pillars of Emaan. Muslims believe prophets are noble and respectable, and Allah (the God) has chosen them to be the best persons among the humankind. Besides, Muslims believe that the Prophets shouldn't be illustrated in any form of drawing/animation/statue because to avoid the ideas of worshipping idols - "There is no God to be worshiped but Allah, and Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger."
If they say that they're ignorant, then it's fine. However, they should stop printing it out immediately when they realize this caricature boils over Muslim sensitivity.
Then, if they argue about the freedom of speech. So, Muslims should respond that yes, they do believe in freedom of speech but at the same time they draw borders in this freedom.
Let me clarify this point with this analogy; in some European countries such as Ukraine and German, they also practice the freedom of speech. At the same time, they have a law against Holocaust denial. If there is someone over there speak publicly that they deny this historical fact then, he/she can be caught by the police. So it goes the same with us. You can speak out anything you want as long as it doesn't cross the borders.
I hope that you get my point here and may Allah make it easier for us to understand more about our religion. Amin

What I feel about Al-Maghrib class?
Today is the second day of my AlMaghrib class, which is basically about "Rays of Faith". Before I enrolled in this class, I only heard good feedbacks from my friends about those courses offered by AlMaghrib Institute. But now, I'm taking one of the classes so, I can assess it on my own. Yes, IT IS A WORTH CLASS! Although at first I thought that I already familiar with this topic, I realize that there are still many things to be learned. The lecturer always try to get students' attention by making jokes and he really encourages his students to ask questions and to share their experience. Not only that, by taking this class, I actually expand my friends network. I know even though I'm not that friendly but still, at least I make about 3-4 new friends. Luckily Amaney is also in the class, so for most of the time I make new friends from her :P
hmm...when you attend a class like this of course you'll find out that most of the females are wearing nice, long hijab with abaya. I personally admire the way they dress up and I'm praying to Allah that one day I'll also be like them. They look so modest and of course so beautiful. MashaAllah. I really fall in love with them. Don't be surprised with the statement but, I do mean it. I love the ukhuwwah and the way they bring themselves in this American culture. They are so active and enthusiastic when it comes to question or discussion session. Compare to myself, I'm so passive for most of the time. I also feel too shy to ask anything even to my "neighbor". Hahaha sue, you really need to change! If not, people won't see your presence =D
Ok. I guess that's it for now because I have to do some review for my upcoming calculus IV test. InshaAllah, when I have some free time I'll write more about what I learned in the class so far. Pray for me, InshaAllah.
p/s: This class is actually a double weekend course.

Hijrah?...mungkin
Last night, my friend told me that there will be al-Maghrib classes at NYU on this weekend. Her words make me stumbled and stopped me from watching a korean drama, "Delightful Girl". I realize that this is actually the time that I'm waiting for. Yeay!!! I feel so grateful :). I've been planning to attend those classes since then. But, never got any chance to join it because I always got conflict with my assignment due date, midterms or even finals.
"This time I won't let this opportunity slip away again. It's not that easy to get the same shot so, I have to make full use of it", whispered me into my heart. At the moment, I can feel the smile spread across my face and joy come into my life. Yeah...tomorrow night inshaAllah I'll make a new history - a history that will change my world. Basshaa!

feeling sad & homesickness
hurm...mahu balik rumah lagi~ my home sweet home... :(
masa berlalu pergi dalam sekelip mata
perginya meninggalkan kita tanpa secubit belas kasihan
hanya rintihan manusia yang ditinggalkan
bersama-sama kenangan dan pengalaman
namun,
aku harus terus memandang ke depan
kerana layanan perasaan tidak mampu memberi sebarang perubahan
untuk diri kecil ini mahupun perjuangan
aku juga harus sedar
pandanganku masih perlu diluaskan
agar seiring dengan impian dan arus pemodenan
walaupun aku tahu pelbagai cabaran menanti di hadapan
itu semua tak seharusnya dijadikan alasan
kerna ku tahu...di hujungnya nanti, menanti sebuat senyuman
ingatlah firman Allah yang bermaksud:
"Demi masa! Sesungguhnya manusia di dalam kerugian. Kecuali mereka yang beriman, beramal soleh dan berpesan-pesan dengan kebenaran serta berwasiat dengan kesabaran" (surah Al-Asr)
